Posted on April 04, 2017

AspinallVerdi has been appointed by the Heritage Lottery Fund to work on two nationally significant heritage projects.

AspinallVerdi has recently been appointed to appraise a proposal by the Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust for the refurbishment of the Fitted Rigging House.  The Fitted Rigging House is a Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM) and Grade I Listed Building that occupies a landmark position on the Anchor Wharf in Chatham, Kent. It is one of a group of 100 historic buildings and structures (including 47 SAMs and 53 Grade I/II*) that form The Historic Dockyard Chatham - the world’s most complete dockyard of the age of sail. The proposal is to refurbish the building for substantially pre-let office space with public uses and engaging activities.

Last year AspinallVerdi was instructed appraisal a Heritage Enterprise application by The Waltham Abbey Royal Gunpowder Mills Charitable Foundation to restore, and bring back into use, four former gunpowder incorporating mills and one cordite press house.  All the buildings are Grade 2 or Grade 2* Listed extending to some 3,290 sqm.  The proposal was to convert the buildings to a children’s residential outdoor adventure activity and education centre.
