The first 10 years! Atam’s review of the past decade

Posted on October 17, 2019

AspinallVerdi have just passed the milestone of 10 years trading.  From the first day when it was just me (Ben was still working his notice) at my dining table through to today, it has been a journey which has been full of learning and affirmation that we work in a people and relationship orientated business.

Many of my colleagues I’ve had the pleasure of knowing longer than the business has been in existence – indeed I was introduced to Parm (Head of London) by another long-standing co-consultant friend a few years before the company was founded (he knows who he is, so I’ll save his blushes).  Stuart (London) and Andy (Liverpool) and Sarah (Leeds) are also relationships which pre-date the company.

Since the financial crises generated its huge merry-go-round – the friendships and links have lasted and been critical to our winning work across the Country.

In our early days we found that often we were coming second in tenders and we needed clients who could see beyond the newness of the business and to trust us with those important projects.  One always stands out for me, and that was Sandwell Borough Council, who appointed us to prepare their Community Infrastructure Levy Study – our first.  Since that time our work in this sector has taken us from Northumberland to the Isle of Wight and many points in between.

The growth of the business will continue and we all look forward to maintaining and developing new relationships.  I do thank clients and colleagues (both in and outside the business) in helping us achieve this milestone.  Looking forward to the next 10…..
