Overview

Working with lead consultants Nexus Planning, AspinallVerdi were retained by Bristol City Council to prepare a review of the performance of the city centre in terms of retail and leisure uses.

The study required a qualitative and quantitative review of the City Centre and also incorporate the development of comparative metrics with other city centres.


Project Description / Services Provided

AspinallVerdi undertook a review of the current and historic performance of the City Centre – utilising a range of data sources to understand and present the market performance of the City Centre over an agreed period of time. 

The project also included:

  • Consultation with stakeholders to complement the analysis.
  • Consultation with the Mayor and other agencies active in development and regeneration.
  • To visit Bristol City Centre in order to understand the physical conditions of the City Centre to inform the advice
  • To agree the national centres with which to compare Bristol City Centre and then to gather the relevant data and prepare a report which indicates the relative performance of the cities/centres.
  • To prepare presentations and report which provided the Council which supports future policy and investment decisions in order to ensure that the vibrancy and activity in the City Centre is maintained.
